   At present, veterinary B-ultrasound has not been widely used in my country. The main reason is the gap in people's understanding of the application of new technologies. Many people do not understand the application of B-ultrasound in animal husbandry and veterinary medicine, let alone the value of B-ultrasound application. In addition, traditional customary forces are also obstacles to the application of B-ultrasound. With the increasing tasks and requirements of animal breeding and animal disease diagnosis and treatment, the traditional diagnostic methods of only using eyes, stethoscopes, thermometers, and percussion hammers can no longer meet the needs of animal husbandry and veterinary clinical applications. Today, B-ultrasound is very useful in medical diagnosis, and tomorrow, veterinary B-ultrasound will also play a role in animal medicine. We should promote the use of B-ultrasound in a step-by-step manner according to the actual situation, popularize the knowledge of the use of veterinary B-ultrasound, and take this opportunity to use it as a ladder to promote scientific and technological progress and improve the level of veterinary science and technology in my country. I believe that with the improvement of B-ultrasound equipment and the in-depth development of ultrasonic diagnostic technology, and with our deeper understanding, recognition and research of B-ultrasound, B-ultrasound will be more widely used in animal breeding and veterinary clinics, and more satisfactory results will be obtained. Before the emergence of veterinary B-ultrasound, pregnancy examination of large animals after mating mainly relied on traditional rectal examination. It is usually performed two months after mating. The hand and arm are inserted into the rectum through the animal's anus, and the uterine horn, middle uterine artery and ovary are touched through the rectum. The feeling of the hand determines whether the pregnancy and the pregnancy time. The requirements are low and the accuracy rate is high.

However, there are disadvantages of rectal examination:

① The operation technology is not easy to master, and its accuracy depends on the personal experience of the veterinarian;

② The shorter the pregnancy time, the more difficult it is to judge;

③ For small animals, only external late palpation can be performed;

④ It leads to adverse consequences of infection and miscarriage;

⑤ It is dirty and tiring.

The emergence of veterinary B-ultrasound has fully solved these contradictions. It has the following advantages:

① It can observe the development of the uterus, embryo sac, and embryo cell of early pregnancy in real-time live images, with intuitive feeling and high accuracy;

② It is simple to operate and easy to master;

③ It does not damage the body;

④ It determines the pregnancy time early;

⑤ It can conveniently diagnose early pregnancy for small animals;

⑥ It is not dirty or tiring, and the cost of each examination is low.

In addition, veterinary B-ultrasound is compared with other diagnostic methods, such as rectal palpation, serum steroid analysis, biopsy, and estrus test with vasectomized rams, in terms of accuracy and time of pregnancy diagnosis. Although other methods have their own advantages, the use of B-ultrasound for pregnancy diagnosis is the most rapid, safe, effective and timely method. Therefore, it can be said that the emergence of B-ultrasound has enabled us to find a simple and effective method for pregnancy diagnosis. The earliest application of veterinary B-ultrasound in pregnancy monitoring is to determine whether sheep are pregnant. Before the application of B-ultrasound, animal breeders were helpless in diagnosing early pregnancy after mating. They could only wait and see whether the ewes were in estrus again in the future. If they were not in estrus again, they would be considered pregnant. However, for large-scale breeding, it is easy to make mistakes in judgment and may be deceived by false pregnancy, which will delay mating again, affect breeding efficiency, waste feed, and suffer economic losses. If veterinary B-ultrasound machines are used to diagnose pregnancy in sheep during the estrus season, empty ewes can be found in time, and they can be re-breeded or used only for wool production, or sold when the market price is high, which can reduce costs for breeders and bring higher economic benefits. At present, veterinary B-ultrasound has also begun to be widely used for early pregnancy diagnosis of most animals, especially in the monitoring of reproductive function of pigs, cattle, horses, sheep and dogs, which has promoted animal husbandry and breeding and is of great significance.
