Using B-ultrasound to check for metritis in dairy cows in summer
The high temperature in summer is conducive to the reproduction of pathogenic microorganisms, and due to the heat stress reaction, the immunity and disease resistance of dairy cows decrease. Dairy cows that calve in summer are prone to reproductive tract infections such as metritis, uterine pyometra (fluid) and vaginitis. Therefore, in summer, it is necessary to use bovine B-ultrasound to regularly observe the reproductive system of cows. Therefore, it is extremely important to prevent and promptly treat reproductive tract infections in dairy cows.
During the delivery and midwifery of dairy cows in summer, special attention should be paid to disinfecting midwifery instruments and the arms of the operator to prevent uterine and vaginal infections. Intramuscular injection of antibiotics or intrauterine injection of antibiotics into calving cows can effectively prevent uterine infections caused by retained placenta, and the treatment process can be observed by bovine B-ultrasound. However, it should also be noted that long-term injection of certain drugs (such as antibiotics) into the uterus can weaken the phagocytic function of phagocytes, which may cause damage to the endometrium of dairy cows. During the administration of drugs, it is necessary to use bovine B-ultrasound for observation.
The genital secretions of dairy cows should be observed at least once a day. The method is to observe the quantity, color and viscosity of the vulvar secretions of dairy cows one by one when the dairy cows lie down to rest, or to observe them by B-ultrasound to determine whether the dairy cows have reproductive tract diseases such as metritis. If the dairy cows are found to have metritis, they should be treated in time according to the requirements of the veterinarian.
Prevention and treatment of retained placenta. The proportion of dairy cows with retained placenta in calving in summer is relatively high. Therefore, in summer, B-ultrasound observation of dairy cows is used to prevent retained placenta and reduce the complications of retained placenta, which is one of the important measures to improve the reproductive efficiency of dairy cows in hot summer.
