Veterinary B-ultrasound machine is one of the commonly used testing equipment in modern veterinary medicine, mainly used to detect tendons and pregnancy in horses. It can be accurately detected whether a mare is pregnant after 12 to 14 days of mating, while rectal palpation needs to be done after 35 days. It should be noted that rectal palpation of young mares can easily cause rectal tears, so rectal palpation is usually not a very safe choice.

1. Obtain clear images as much as possible

Try to clean the feces in the rectum as quickly as possible, apply coupling agent on the probe, and use a high-frequency probe for detection. The higher the probe frequency, the clearer the image, but the shallower the detection depth; The lower the probe frequency, the lower the image clarity, but the deeper the detection depth. In addition, adjusting various parameters of the horse ultrasound machine has resulted in higher quality images, such as adjusting gain, contrast, and other parameters.

2. Ensure that the entire uterus of the mare can be scanned

If you prefer to use a horse ultrasound machine to scan from the left ovary, make sure to see the entire left corner, uterine bifurcation, and entire right corner when you go to the right ovary. When you go out, scan from side to side and make sure you have observed the entire uterus. Do not develop the habit of discovering pregnancy and giving up other tests; This cannot rule out the possibility of twins and some uterine inflammation.

3. Take necessary measures to ensure safety during the testing process

During the testing process, the movements must be gentle, especially when testing a mare who is pregnant for the first time. Rectal testing may make the mare nervous, which is dangerous for the testing personnel. In addition to posing a threat to your own safety, the risk of rectal perforation in mares with excessive movement and increased muscle tension is higher. If necessary, some calming measures can be taken to calm the horse down.
