Ultrasound pregnancy detection of sheep using animal B-ultrasound BXL-V50
Due to the small size of Mianyang, ultrasound pregnancy testing is generally performed on ewes through abdominal ultrasound probes (rectal probes can also be used), while animal ultrasound testing can be performed on ewes after 35 days of mating.
We applied a coupling agent to the abdominal probe of the animal B-ultrasound BXL-V50 to improve the contact between the probe and the skin. I placed it in the hairless area in front of the ewe's breast.

On the screen, liquid appears in the uterus, fetus, and placenta. Placental tumors are clearly visible from day 60 of pregnancy, and their shape is convex in sheep rather than concave in cows. Due to its cup-shaped shape, the sheep placenta will appear as a donut or C-shaped according to the cross-section under ultrasound. The concave surface of the placenta faces one side of the fetus, which helps detect multiple fetuses. In the late stage of pregnancy, the more placental tumors there are, the more difficult it is to diagnose multiple fetuses.

Ultrasound examination can also be performed by placing the probe in the extension section. This method can reliably diagnose pregnancy 30 days after mating. Fetal * * * can also be performed between 60 and 70 days of pregnancy. The location and appearance of reproductive nodules are the same as those of bovine fetuses. If you would like to learn more about gender determination, please refer to our 'Fetal * * * Mini Guide'. Abdominal pregnancy diagnosis for sheep and goats is an additional service, and rural veterinarians can easily provide their clients with veterinary ultrasound on cows.
