Ultrasonic testing of sheep
For many years, we have been using sheep ultrasound machines for pregnancy diagnosis in sheep herds. Due to the small size of sheep, a simple constraint can be made before testing, and ultrasound testing can be performed on the abdomen.

After restraining the sheep, apply coupling agent on the sheep ultrasound probe to improve the ultrasound image. Place the probe in the hairless area in front of the ewe's breast for pregnancy detection.
Location of sheep ultrasound pregnancy detection
On the screen of the sheep Ultrasound Machine, liquid can be seen appearing at the incision site of the uterus, fetus, and placenta. Placental tumors are clearly visible after 60 days of pregnancy, appearing convex in ewes rather than concave in cows. Due to its cup-shaped shape, placental tumors in ewes are shaped like donuts or C-shaped ultrasound waves based on the cutting plane. The concave surface of a placental tumor is located opposite the fetal side, which helps detect multiple fetuses. The more pregnancy progresses to the late stage, the more times placental tumors occupy the image, and the more difficult it is to diagnose multiple fetuses.

The ultrasound examination of sheep can also be performed through the rectum by placing the probe on the extension. This approach allows for reliable diagnosis of pregnancy as early as 30 days after reproduction. Fetal pregnancy can also be performed between 60 and 70 days of gestation. The location and appearance of reproductive nodules are the same as those of bovine fetuses. The diagnosis of abdominal pregnancy in sheep and goats is a very convenient pregnancy detection method widely used in veterinary medicine, with high accuracy and no irritation to sheep.
