Uterine inflammation in sows is a stubborn uterine disease, and severe uterine inflammation is difficult to completely cure, especially difficult to cure in one go. Some sows may suffer from long-term infertility due to latent uterine inflammation, so it is generally necessary to use Veterinary Ultrasound and other instruments for diagnosis.

Sows with latent uterine inflammation usually do not have inflammatory secretions in their vagina, only thick liquid is discharged during estrus, and there is a small amount of odor. Abnormal symptoms of the uterus can also be seen on animal B-ultrasound. Even if these pigs are sometimes paired, they rarely give birth to offspring. So pig farm operators should pay special attention to the prevention and treatment of uterine inflammation.

The prevention and treatment of metritis is mainly based on uterine flushing. In the hot season from July to September, all postnatal sows in pig farms with high incidence rate should be examined with veterinary B-ultrasound. The uterus of sows with uterine inflammation should be flushed. In other seasons, only the sows with artificial midwifery need to be flushed. Rinsing is generally a one-time procedure, but for sows that still have a significant amount of purulent discharge after 10 days postpartum, further Animal ultrasound observation should be performed before rinsing 1-2 times. Eliminating uterine inflammation in nursing homes is crucial.

After the sow is transferred to the breeding house, the occurrence of uterine inflammation will affect the sow's breeding, waste one estrus period, and result in a loss of feeding costs of 80-100 yuan. At this time, the treatment of uterine inflammation will be relatively difficult, usually requiring 2-5 washes and sometimes combined with systemic antibiotic injections. Severe uterine inflammation in sows cannot be cured and must be eliminated, so it is important to use veterinary ultrasound to observe the sow's uterus in advance.

In production, the following drugs are mainly used to flush the uterus: gentamicin, and animal B-ultrasound observation. When the sow begins to estrus, a small amount of inflammatory secretions are found in the vaginal secretions of the sow. 2% gentamicin can be used to flush the uterus, with a flushing volume of 50-100ml. Gentamicin has no harm to sperm. After washing for 24 hours, mating can be carried out without delaying the mating period. This method can effectively treat mild inflammation in sows.
