Understanding the imaging principle of veterinary B-ultrasound is that ultrasound waves will produce echoes of varying strengths when encountering different structures of animal tissues, but ultrasound waves can completely penetrate liquids and cannot produce echoes, and appear as a completely dark area on the B-ultrasound machine. For example, during pregnancy testing, when ultrasound waves encounter amniotic fluid, urine, water accumulation, etc., they cannot be directly reflected back when they encounter the amniotic fluid part, but can only be reflected back from the fetal membrane part. Therefore, the amniotic fluid part shows a dark area or what is commonly called a black hole on the B-ultrasound machine. Usually, early pregnancy testing for pigs, cattle and sheep is to find the dark area and determine whether it is amniotic fluid. If it is amniotic fluid, it can be judged as pregnancy; if it is urine in the bladder, it cannot be judged as pregnancy.
