B-ultrasound for cattle assists in analyzing the causes of dystocia in dairy cows

In recent years, due to the lack of relevant scientific feeding and management techniques by farmers in dairy cow production, the dystocia rate of dairy cows has increased, causing unnecessary economic losses to dairy cow production. Some people have analyzed the causes of dozens of cases of dystocia in dairy cows that they have come into contact with, and explored some effective prevention and treatment methods.

Causes of dystocia, direct causes of dystocia in cows, direct causes of dystocia in cows are further divided into maternal causes and fetal causes.

Maternal causes, calving cows cause dystocia due to narrow birth canal, insufficient production force or improper exercise causing uterine torsion. When observing Cows with B-ultrasound, it can also be seen that the birth canal of cows is very narrow. Birth canal stenosis is divided into soft birth canal stenosis and hard birth canal stenosis. Soft birth canal stenosis refers to incomplete opening of the soft birth canal, such as the cervical opening is not open or incomplete opening, vaginal soft tissue stenosis and incomplete opening of the vulva fissure. This kind of dystocia can be completely diagnosed by B-ultrasound for cattle. Hard birth canal stenosis refers to incomplete opening of the hard birth canal, such as narrow uterine cavity, incomplete opening of pubic symphysis, incomplete opening of sacroiliac joint, tense sacroiliac ligament, gluteal muscle not depressed, poor tail root mobility and small range of motion.

Insufficient labor refers to insufficient force and contraction of cows during calving. The contraction force of abdominal muscles is small, and the intra-abdominal pressure is small, which is not conducive to the delivery of the fetus, resulting in dystocia. When the contraction begins, the uterus gradually tightens and shrinks to facilitate the delivery of the fetus. If the uterine muscle contraction force is insufficient, it will lead to dystocia.

Uterine torsion The uterus twists in the abdominal cavity, causing the uterine body to twist into a rope shape, resulting in the inability to deliver the fetus and causing dystocia in cows. When observing cows with B-ultrasound, it can be seen that the shape of the cow's uterus is abnormal.
