Monitoring early pregnancy of goats with B-ultrasound

The early pregnancy refers to the first month of pregnancy of ewes. Before the fertilized egg is implanted and the placenta is not formed, it is easily affected by external feeding conditions. Feeding the ewe with spoiled, moldy or toxic feed can easily cause early embryo death. When the ewe is diagnosed with pregnancy by B-ultrasound, if the ewe's diet is not nutritionally complete, lacking protein, vitamins and minerals, it may also cause the fertilized egg to stop developing midway. Therefore, after the pregnancy is confirmed by B-ultrasound, the feeding and management of the ewe in the early pregnancy is a critical period to ensure the normal growth and development of the fetus. At this time, the fetus is still small, and the nutrients required by the ewe are not high, but they must be relatively comprehensive. Under the feeding conditions of grazing and penning, generally speaking, the ewe can eat young and tender grass to meet its nutritional needs.

The feeding and management in the early winter of pregnancy should not only repair the pens before winter, but also achieve "three nos, four diligences, and one maintenance". "Three no's" means no wind, no leaks, no moisture in the pen; "Four diligences" means frequent bedding, frequent grass changes, frequent cleaning, and frequent manure removal in the pen; "One maintenance" means keeping the pen clean, dry and warm. Absolutely avoid kicking and scaring, and prevent fighting or squeezing with other sheep or other animals. If there is no heavy snowstorm, you should insist on moderate exercise or grazing every day. When exercising, be careful not to walk too fast, choose a flat place to exercise, and do not walk on steep slopes or cross ditches. It should be separated from the ram to prevent forced mating. Do not hit the cold whip to avoid scaring the sheep, and use sheep B-ultrasound for routine examination of its fetus.

Spring feeding management, early spring, the grass in the pasture is withered and rough, and most farmers use hay and crop straw and other roughage to supplement the grazing of ewes. Due to the limitations of nutrients in the forage grass eaten by ewes, even if the ewes can reach fullness through grazing and supplementary feeding, it cannot meet their nutritional needs. Farmers should appropriately supplement concentrated feed according to the nutritional status of the ewes.

In daily feeding and management, we should pay attention to the spirit, diet, behavior and excretion of pregnant sheep. If any abnormality is found, we should treat it immediately. After the sheep are examined by B-ultrasound, pregnant sheep with early symptoms of abortion should be injected with 10-30ml of progesterone, once a day, until the symptoms disappear. In the early stage of pregnancy of ewes, the fetus begins to develop, and the key is to appropriately increase the nutritious protein feed.

Monitoring early and mid-pregnancy female goats with B-ultrasound

In early pregnancy, after ewes are pregnant for 2 months, as the pregnancy months increase, the fetal development gradually accelerates on B-ultrasound, and the amount of concentrate feed should be gradually increased. 40% soybeans, 30% corn, 20% barley, and 10% wheat can be soaked in warm water for 6-8 hours, ground into slurry, and then add 10%-5% bean cake, 5%-8% bran, 1% salt, and 3%-5% bone meal equivalent to the total amount of soybeans and other feeds. Feed the pregnant goats 2-3 times/d, feed the mixed concentrate 50-100 times/head, and the young ewes should also increase the amount of concentrate feed appropriately.

In mid-pregnancy, after ewes are pregnant for 3 months, the total volume of forage fed to pregnant goats should be properly controlled. Feeding forage and adding concentrate to goats should be done in small amounts and frequently, so as to prevent excessive one-time feeding from oppressing the fetus and affecting its normal growth and development. In mid-pregnancy, the key is to supplement sufficient protein and carbohydrate feeds, and feed less and more meals. In the late pregnancy, the sheep observed with B-ultrasound that the fetus has grown rapidly. The weight of the fetus has reached 60%-70% of the lamb's birth weight. The key is to add more protein feed, make the concentrate feed fresh and diversified, do not eat toxic and spoiled feed, and exercise moderately.

In the middle and late pregnancy, after the ewe is pregnant for 4 months, the sheep observed with B-ultrasound that the fetus's bones have basically grown. The weight of the fetus has reached 60%-70% of the lamb's birth weight. At the same time, the ewe also needs to store a certain amount of nutrients for postpartum breastfeeding. Generally, during this stage, the fetus is supplemented with feed, and the amount of concentrate feed should be increased to about 2 times that of the early pregnancy. The forage and supplementary concentrate feed should be fresh and diversified, and young grass, carrots and other green and juicy feeds can be fed more. It is forbidden to feed potatoes, distiller's grains, cottonseed cake or rapeseed cake that has not been detoxified, and it is also forbidden to feed feed that is moldy, spoiled, too cold or too hot, too acidic, or mixed with ergot or poisonous weeds (such as sunflower, thornless mimosa, etc.), so as to avoid causing miscarriage, dystocia and postpartum diseases in ewes.
